Import People to ChurchTrakr

Use the People import tool to add multiple records from a CSV file. The import walks you through four steps: Upload, Map Fields, Preview, and Complete.

Prepare your CSV file

  • Save the file in CSV format.
  • Place column names in the first row.
  • Include a first name and last name for every person.
  • Review the file for blank rows and duplicate people before importing.

ChurchTrakr can import fields including names, preferred first name, email, phone numbers, address, website, status, Member Since date, birthday, gender, notes, prefix, and suffix.

1. Upload the file

  1. Go to People.
  2. Open Import People.
  3. Drag the CSV file into the upload area, or select the area and choose the file.

Only CSV files are accepted. ChurchTrakr reads the first row as the column headers.

2. Map the fields

ChurchTrakr automatically matches common headings such as “First Name,” “Last Name,” “Email,” “Cell Phone,” and “ZIP Code.” Review every mapping before continuing.

  1. For each CSV column, choose the corresponding ChurchTrakr field.
  2. Select Skip this column for information you do not want to import.
  3. Confirm that First Name and Last Name are mapped. Both are required.
  4. Select Continue to Preview.

Each ChurchTrakr field can be assigned to only one CSV column.

3. Preview the import

The preview shows the first 10 rows and the total number of records that will be processed.

  1. Confirm that each value appears under the correct heading.
  2. If something is incorrect, select Back to Mapping and adjust the field assignments.
  3. When everything looks correct, select Import Records.

4. Review the results

After processing, ChurchTrakr reports how many people were imported. If records were skipped, the completion screen lists the affected row numbers and reasons for the first several issues.

Select Go to People to review the imported records, or select Import Another File to start another import.

Before importing again

Correct skipped records in the original CSV and create a new file containing only those records. Avoid re-importing the complete original file unless you have confirmed that it will not create duplicate people.
